WotR rules and mechanics reference
Wrath of the Righteous teaches its own rules: an in-game encyclopedia of 196 pages across 10 chapters, from Ability Scores to Attack Rolls to the Crusade tutorials. We dumped the whole tree.
The shape of the tree
Pages form a hierarchy three levels deep:
| Depth | Pages |
|---|---|
| root sections | 3 |
| second level | 124 |
| third level | 65 |
| fourth level | 4 |
Chapters cover the expected ground — Basics, Character Creation, Combat Rules, Common Terms, Equipment, Magic — plus Tutorial and Crusade Tutorial tracks.
Three orphans
Cross-referencing every parent link turns up exactly three nodes nothing attaches to:
- A complete chapter titled "Sadistic Game Design" — zero blocks, zero inbound links. The devs shipped a whole codex section (by that name!) and left it dangling outside the tree.
- An orphaned Temporary Hit Points rules page.
- One more unnamed chapter stub.
Cut content usually means removed encounters; here it's removed documentation — rules text the team wrote, then disconnected.
Why read it at all?
The codex is the designers' own explanation of the systems this site measures: if you want the intended reading of attack rolls, AC, or spell resolution before diving into the damage pipeline or DC anatomy, it's all in there — verifiable against the data, which agrees with itself.
