The Scepter of Discord

Among the spoils of a recent battle, officers found an ornate scepter that once belonged to the ruler of a Sarkorian clan. They jokingly argued over who should get such a valuable and prestigious trophy, but this banter soon turned into bitter rivalry. It is as if the honorable officers have gone mad — in their desire to get their hands on the scepter, they have stooped to bribery and coercion. The clerics sense no curse on the loot, so it seems this is merely a case of ordinary greed and injured pride.
