Whenever a bard or a skald uses this instrument to perform the dirge of doom, the performance has an additional effect. To be affected, an enemy must be able to hear the performance and be within 30 feet. Every round, each enemy within range receives a Will save (DC 10 + 1/2 the performer's level in the class used for the performance + their spellcasting ability modifier) to negate the effect. If the save succeeds, the creature is immune to this ability for 24 hours. If the save fails, a living target takes 1d6 points of negative energy damage, and an undead target is staggered for 1 round.
