Contrairement aux animaux normaux, le compagnon animal évolue (en dés de vie, en caractéristiques, en compétences et en dons) lorsque le druide gagne des niveaux. Si le personnage possède plusieurs sources offrant un compagnon animal, ses niveaux de druide se cumulent pour déterminer les caractéristiques de son compagnon. La taille de la plupart des compagnons animaux s'accroît lorsque le druide atteint le niveau 4 ou 7 (selon le compagnon).
