The resource economy: one pool, many spenders

Counted from logic/ability-resources.jsonl (3,007 links) and logic/resource-consumers.jsonl (667 pools) — build 20212986, patch 2.7.0x.

Class abilities in WotR don't have their own mana bars. They draw from 667 named resource pools through 3,007 recorded links — and the shape of those pools explains half of the system's build decisions.

Shared pools are the norm

The biggest pools serve enormous menus of abilities:

| Resource | Consumers | Max | |---|---:|---| | Shifter Wild Shape | 128 | formula | | Domain Blessings (war priest) | 86 | 3 | | Bardic Performance | 72 | formula | | Arcanist Arcane Reservoir | 63 | 3 | | Mythic Summon | 59 | 1 | | Draconic Claws (bloodline) | 50 | 3 | | Ki (monk) | 48 ×2 | formula |

That last row is a data oddity worth knowing: the client ships two distinct blueprints both named "Ki", each with its own 48 consumers. Base monk and its archetypes don't fully share a pool.

Most amounts aren't numbers — they're formulas

138 of the 667 pools store maxAmount = 0, which in this engine means the cap is computed at runtime from stats and level (monk ki scales with level and Wisdom, bard rounds with performance-feats, wild shape uses charges). The other 529 are fixed — and those are strikingly small: 289 pools cap at 1 use, 157 at 3, 59 at 2.

One pool is capped at 999,999: the Kineticist's Energy. Burn is uncapped by design; the limit is what your HP can survive.

The three verbs

Every link between an ability and a pool is one of four kinds: requires (1,786 — spend to cast), grants (794 — restore or add), increases (272 — raise the cap), references (155). Restoration is its own economy: every way to refill a pool is recorded the same way as spending it.

The cost curve

Where costs are fixed, they're nearly always 1 (1,335 of ~2,250 costed links). Exactly one ability in the game uses a computed custom cost — everything else pays flat or scales by formula.
